    Breathtaking images of nature, especially kitties and flora! Every succulent flower, both potted and free, palms are unsurprisingly here, too, in Israel, especially on the coast. We don't have pebbled beaches but loads of sand and now, "in season," jellyfish. DANGER warnings (in the media, signage, and word-of-mouth) to stay out of the water.

      Thank you! And also similar to coastal California. All beautiful places. On a recent swim, we had one lone jellyfish (medusa in Italian!), and a friend had told me there would be an occasional one.

      Thank you! My photo essays are compiled as I take the piccies, so I only had to do a little bit of formatting. I managed to squeeze in a bit of time for that, amazingly!

  Friends Rob and Steve, and their friend Brenda (our new friend) decided to visit Sicily at the end of their most recent travels. We were excited to see them again in person after having met in March 2022 on Regal Princess , our Transatlantic cruise to begin our retirement exploration. It's nice on those rare occasions to meet people you feel a connection with, then build and maintain a friendship. We had so much fun reconnecting! We met playing trivia. Rob reminded me that it was 80s trivia. Cousin Gerlyn was part of the gang on that cruise After consulting, Steve and Rob decided to spend two nights in Palermo, three in Capo d'Orlando, and two in Catania. I went to meet with them for part of their time in Palermo, then we had fun spending time together in Capo. Chasing Ciacchellas: Line Expansion Ciacchella + Carrabino

  Detroit Ciacchella cousins and their partners (John's generation), late 1980s. In November 2024, I published a blog with my most up-to-date findings on John's paternal family tree, where my goal (not reached) was to identify all of John's 5th great-grandparents. Since that time, I gained access to a set of Augusta church records* that has helped me expand the tree a little further back. This blog covers my findings for the Ciacchella and Carrabino lines.  *Unfortunately, the rules of access do not allow me to share images of the records. However, I'll be providing all of the relevant data. When I was able to obtain a record outside of this access (e.g. another researcher gave one to me from their own research, then I will share the image). The people who control the records in Augusta are not very willing to allow access, nor have they been digitally preserved. I don't know why. Summer "Staycation" 2025: Palermo, Roma, Oliveri, and Home

  This summer season we had the opportunity to take some short trips to Palermo, Roma, and Oliveri. In addition to day trips to the Aeolian Islands , there were also several fun local events. Best of all, each involved time with family and friends and memories made! Palermo Visit with Impellizzeri Cousins Our Summer kicked off with a very special event: Meeting up with American Impellizzeri cousins on their first trip to Italy! After chatting virtually for several years, we were excited to meet Kelly Conrad (John's 5th cousin), along with her sister Wendy Conrad (5th cousin) and their mom, Mary Impellizzeri (John's 4th cousin, 1 x removed). Their trip included Roma, Alcamo (ancestral home town), and Palermo. We decided it would be easiest to connect in Palermo.
